After a long wait of over five years and three months, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has proudly resumed its direct flight operations between Islamabad and Manchester on 25 October 2025. This marks a significant achievement in strengthening Pakistan’s global connectivity and economic progress.
The first flight, PK 701, departed from Islamabad International Airport carrying 284 passengers to Manchester, symbolizing a new chapter of convenience and confidence for overseas Pakistanis. The Minister of Defence Pakistan and British High Commissioner Jane Marriott graced the inaugural ceremony, highlighting the importance of this renewed air link between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
This development is expected to bring great relief and convenience for Pakistani expatriates, enabling them to travel directly without long layovers. Moreover, it will play a key role in boosting trade relations between the two nations by facilitating the faster import and export of goods, thereby generating valuable revenue for Pakistan’s national carrier.
With this positive step, PIA continues its journey towards revival and modernization, reaffirming its commitment to connect Pakistan with the world and contribute to the nation’s economic prosperity.
